ELA Links5th Grade Typing RequirementsAt the end of each term, you will be taking a keyboarding test to see how much you have improved. Remember you can always retake your test if you would like to try and do better.
Part 1 Speed & Accuracy (Term 1 & 2 = 1 Page, Term 3 = 1.5 Pages, Term 4 = 2 Pages) 4 = Type 30 WPM with 90% Accuracy 3 = Type 25 WPM with 90% Accuracy 2 = Type 20 WPM with 80% Accuracy 1 = Anything Less than 20 WPM or 80% Accuracy Part 2 Technique 4 = Advanced (Students will know the keys, key by touch, and demonstrate perfect technique) 3 = Meets Expectations (Students know the keys and key by touch and demonstrate good technique) 2 = Partial Mastery (Students look at the keys most of the time, students demonstrate partial technique) 1 = Little or No Mastery (Students is dependent on looking at the keys, and do not demonstrate technique) What does Perfect Technique Mean? (From the USBE Keyboarding Website) Sit up straight Feet flat on the floor Body-centered on the "G" and "H" keys. Fingers curved and oriented to home row Wrists straight and elbows naturally at sides Eyes on screen Correct fingers used for keystrokes Key with smooth rhythm and quiet hands |
