I believe that every student is capable of great things, as a teacher I am simply here to help guide students to be great.
Hello, and welcome to our 6th grade class.
My name is Trevor Black, for those of you lucky enough to be a part of our classroom I will be your teacher in the upcoming school year. I recently graduated from Utah Valley University with a degree in Elementary Education. I am also an alumni of Utah State University, where I have received my Bachelor of Science degrees in Anthropology/Archaeology, and Ancient History. During my time at Utah State University I was lucky enough to be a part of multiple archaeological field studies. I was also able to create the first Egyptology exhibit at the Utah State Museum of Anthropology. I began working on my Masters Degree this summer from The University of Miami Ohio, and Project Dragonfly. I am studying conservation education, and zoology in the global field program. Last summer my classroom was located in Belize, this upcoming summer my classroom will be in Kenya.
If you are in my class, you will quickly find out that I am a die hard Green Bay Packers, Utah Jazz, and Utah State Aggie fan.
Although I love history and archaeology, my first and true love will always be our natural world. I spent the last three years working at Utah's Hogle Zoo in the education department. I love educating people about the natural world especially endangered animals. I believe that our natural world is in great danger, but we are not too late. Everyday great people, are doing amazing things to help protect our world. Dr. Seuss says it best, " Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not."
I am beyond excited for the upcoming school year, the adventure that is upon us will be legendary. I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you.
Promise me your best, and I will Never Give UP on you!
